Garmin Nuvi 1690
Garmin Nuvi 1690 was created to fill the void of Nuvi 880 once the MSN Direct data service goes offline. Nuvi 1690 features services similar to the aforementioned with the NuLink service. Garmin partnered with AT&T to deliver live fuel prices, Google Local, up to the minute traffic data and turn-by-turn directions. This feature comes free for the first two years upon purchase of the Nuvi 1690.
However, you may notice occasional ads on the menu, map and POI screen. Rest assured that there will be no ads on the map screen when the vehicle is moving. After the first two years, users can continue to use the GPS without the service or pay $5.00 for a monthly subscription.
The Nuvi’s interface was also revamped with more colorful and finer reflection effects. Some of the icons have also been changed for easier use. Also, you’re sure not to lose any of the 1960′s functionality when used without the cradle because it has a wireless built in antenna. No more power cables like the ones from the previous Nuvi devices.
