Medical Billing : How It Pays

There are many careers in the medical field which do not require a degree. While these careers pay significantly less than those which do require a degree, they are a great path to take for those who are interested in working in the medical field, but do not wish to spend several years, and several thousands of dollars on an education. A career in medical billing and coding would fall into this category. In addition to not requiring a degree, a medical biller would have little, if any contact with patients. The primary role of this person would involve working with computers to accurately code the reason for patient visits, bill insurance companies accordingly, and record payments from said companies. The average medical billing coding salaries range from around 20,000 to 50,000 per year, with those working for the federal branch or hospitals making the most. Medical billers who are employed by doctors offices are paid the least on average.
